General Information
- Leveling up is done in Majula through the Emerald Herald.
- Each level, also known as "Soul Level" by the community, requires a successively increasing number of souls.
- Different starting classes begin at different levels.

- The listed costs are the required souls you see in-game, at that level, in order to level up and reach the next level. See individual starting classes for total souls requirements.
- To determine the level of a PvP opponent based on the amount of souls they drop, consult the PvP Soul Value page.
- Unlike in Dark Souls 1, Soul Level is not used for matchmaking. Matchmaking is determined by Soul Memory and the item used instead. See Online Matchmaking for more details.
- The souls requirement for each level increases steadily until level 199 at which point it is "soft capped". There is an enormous jump between levels 199 and 249. After level 250 the soul requirement for each level increases slowly until max level.
