Grab Damage Reduction
Dark Souls 1 featured a grab damage reduction mechanic, where button mashing could allow the player to escape grab attacks with less damage taken.
Testing so far indicates that it has not made a return for Dark Souls 2. The following enemies were tested and confirmed to not allow faster escaping or damage reduction (with both base and high agility):
